9 tips to help you quit smoking

Here is a list of tips that can help you quit smoking.

Tip 1: If you want to quit you will obviously through out your cigarettes. But also remove all other cigarettes and smoking related items from your house like lighters, matches and ashtrays.

Tip 2: Collect the money that you used for smokes in a jar. You will quickly see how much money you save and this will be motivation per se. Use them for rewards – dinners, movies or even traveling.

Tip 3: Chew sugar free gum or maybe even nicotine gum as a start. Just be careful about the nicotine gum. It’s just as addictive as cigarettes. There fore have a plan to gradually reduce the use of nicotine gum.

Tip 4: Studies say it takes about 21 days to break a habit. Make new routines to take over smoking cigarettes.

Tip 5: If you need something in your hand or mouth, try a toothpick or a straw.

Tip 6: Quit together with someone. Having a partner to quit with can help you encourage you when the going gets tough. This could be friends, family or co-workers.

Tip 7: Avoid stress. Many people start smoking when they feel stressed. If you’ve got a stressful job use a nicotine supplement like nicotine patch or nicotine gum. However remember tip no 2.

Tip 8: Try to avoid alcohol and coffee the first tree weeks since both of these often triggers the urge to smoke

Tip 9: If you do relapse don’t feel like a failure! It happened to almost every smoker who has successfully quit. Just continue with your smoking cessation, but remember what triggered your urge though and find ways to avoid it in the future.
