What is the Hay Diet?

The Hay diet was created by William Hay, an American doctor, within the early 1900s. He thought that carbohydrates and proteins shouldn’t be eaten with each other. This, the doctor believed, was due to them requiring separate digestion conditions:

  • Alkaline habitat for carbohydrate foods

He listed food within this order of importance:

  • Fruit sources
  • Leafy greens and raw salad foods
  • Root veggies
  • Grain sources
  • Protein sources

 

These are the Hay health rules:

  1. Carbs shouldn’t be consumed with acidic fruits and proteins.
  2. Fruits, salads, as well as vegetables ought to form the biggest fraction of your diet
